Plus one to Vegeta for having the hotter wife.

Edit - sorry plus 20.
Pretty much every character seemed to think Chi Chi was better looking at the end of DB (before Z).

Vegeta is a cool character, imo. Even through the criticisms I like him. But I love Goku more, and I think Vegeta's character development took a little too long. Tien and Piccolo had more believable redemptions imo. 3 years and 5 years are a good amount of time to switch viewpoints. Over a dozen is just being dense.
It kinda makes sense for Vegeta's to take longer though since I reckon his slaughter of innocents is in at least the millions possibly even billions (including women and children) considering he and Nappa purged entire planets. He did a lot more bad in his life than Piccolo and Tien combined.

No argument there, but it's more about their regrets than anything. Tien greatly regretted his past and Piccolo got a heart from Gohan. Vegeta on the other hand probably still sleeps easily at night (after buu when he turns good) despite the billions he's killed.

I think Bulma had a more kinda "Sexy" quality to her. Like she'd be that girlfriend that wouldn't stop jumping you as soon as you entered a room.
Chi-Chi was a bit more reserved, and had a "beautiful" quality to her. Like she's the woman who's going to mother your children and that you'll spend the rest of your life with. They're kinda like Goku and Vegeta too, they're foils. Bulma is a hot girlfriend, Chichi is a pretty wife (Although once Bulma mellowed out she seemed like she'd be a good wife, and that party at the end of Z really dolled Chi-Chi up, she was portrayed as damn hot.) Bulma is the worldly scientist and Chi-Chi is the sweet Kung-Fu girl. Bulma is the cool mom with bratty kids, Chi-Chi is the strict one with perfect children. I think the age group that usually watches the show favors Bulma because she's "Hot, fun and sexy" but at my age you want the "Mothering, cooking, beautiful woman you can bring around your boss" Chi-Chi.

I agree with that.
Every girl was fine at the 23rd tournament *high fives* *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

Haha! How has this turned into Bulma versus Chi-Chi? I always feel sorry for Chi-Chi. She was cool in Dragonball, she seemed unnaturally strong but still scared. I actually accredit Gohan and Goten being so strong to Chi-Chi's human fighter genetics as well as Goku's Saiyan genetics. It just seemed like in Z she was basically made to appear as a terrifying, strict b***. How would you behave if your husband was always far more interested in fighting than anything else? Bulma is far and away the most intelligent character in the manga. She built the dragon radar as well as a flippin' time machine. She's not just some 'hot girlfriend'. She's a bit spoilt and brash but she comes from such a successful family. Vegeta spoilt?! His whole race died when he was a child. Yeah he killed a lot of people, but his aggressive saiyan nature was never tempered by a blow to the head. he was raised around slaughter, slavery and planet laundering. For him to come through that and out the other side a hero is definitely commendable. Tien never killed anyone, he admitted he wasn't a killer and Piccolo junior never did either. Plus he started out as evil incarnate, it wasn't a choice for him. Nobody knows how Vegeta feels about all the killing. That's not been explored. His pride would never let him show guilt around others except maybe Bulma.

Bulma is definitely technical smart, and she's not really dumb since she thought up the idea of using the dragonballs to stop the Androids before they appeared. But she can be kinda air headed at times, and she's definitely shallow. She was waiting for her boyfriend at the 23rd tournament and then when she sees Goku she started drooling. I think "hot girlfriend" is a good description for her though, at least pre SSJ's.

Imo, Goku is the Superman of the DB universe. In his own right he's a great character but he's pretty much just a goofy guy who's really strong and has a moral code.

Vegeta goes from villain to antihero. Even when he's with the good guys he hardly is a morally correct which makes him a badass and more willing to do things that Goku wouldn't. Also his character has much more layers to his personality than Goku. Goku is always the main act to the show but to me Vegeta will always be the best character.
STRAIGHT OUTTA NAMEK

This topic should be renamed as "why I love vegeta?".

Anyways on the topic.I hope you realize that the phrase "My favourite/badass character is ...." is subjective. The characters in any series are fed with "qualities" so as to ensure that the series may proceed unabated.

Probably, but we don't know for sure. He could have PTSD for all we know, though I doubt it with his disposition to killing innocents even in the Boo Saga.

Yet Vegeta basically admitted he didn't give a damn about his people getting slaughtered. Like I said, Gohan goes through more than Vegeta simply by the fact that unlike Vegeta, Gohan was never an a*****

Are you talking about when Dodoria told Vegeta about Planet Vegeta's destruction? He was trying to appear intimidating. He cried and begged Goku to avenge the saiyans later in the saga. This is the thing about Vegeta, what he says and what he actually feels can be vastly different (like real people). Like his mistreatment of Trunks only to become enraged at his death, or his dying plea to Goku to avenge the saiyans killed by Freeza, or him telling Goku he didn't care about Bulma and Trunks to then blow himself up to protect them. I'm just a sucker for a redemption story, Piccolo is my second favourite, I just thought his redemption came fast for someone who was born of pure evil. It's a shame his rivalry with Goku dissolved straight away as well and his power became obsolete at the end of the Cell saga. Character, to me, is the most important factor of story telling. Character driven narrative is the best in my opinion and Vegeta has the greatest character arc and the most tragic. His pride, the most important part of him, is constantly holding him back. I think that's something a lot of people (me included) can relate to.

The topic has "in my opinion" in its name. I realise it is subjective, I've just given my reasoning for preferring Vegeta. I still like Goku. Villains and anti-heroes are often more interesting to me than the hero.
